Character Research (Strong Females)

I really want to create a strong female character, for my concept art project. But before i start drawing out and planning her, i need to research strong female characters already out there. and see what makes these strong female characters. This research will help me develop my character, but also try and find something that hasn't been done to a female character. But also what path i want to take/turn my female character into. 

When it came to finding strong female characters, i wanted to find ones that fitted around my vision for my character. So i looked at games and films to help me. I put all my research into this mood board.

The reason that i picked these female characters is not only that they portray a bad ass, its also there style, the way they look. The outfits, tattoos, piercings and hairstyles all help towards making the character look strong and someone you don't want to mess with. And that's what i want to get across with my female character not only she looks tough, but you can see her past/ up bringing just though her style, what type of life she has had.
